Another Heat Treat Furnace Revamp in the books! Following up on a combustion system tune-up, CIC Pittsburgh found that many of the components were not functional, and that the furnace had been designed without metering orifices needed to optimize the gas flow. Also, the exhaust system was severely undersized, so we designed a new exhaust stack. Last weekend was our installation outage. Our team made the piping changes and installed the new stack. The furnace was lit up and tuned.
As a result of this work, the furnace heats up faster, hot spots have been alleviated, and heats the product with improved temperature uniformity.
