Last week, CIC Pittsburgh replaced the upper wall of a Hot Dip Galvanizing Furnace, tuned another one, and shipped out a brand new furnace from our fabrication shop. The most interesting project was the upper wall replacement, which took place during a kettle change outage. The original upper walls had deteriorated over time. They could no longer be counted on to maintain a tight seal of the combustion chamber and the metal would no longer support new welding. Along with new steel structural shell, the walls were pre-lined with new insulation. Not shown in the photo are the new cover plates and other miscellaneous components that were replaces (thermocouples, spark igniters, flame rods, etc.)
Be sure to contact CIC Pittsburgh for all of your furnace needs… Revamps/upgrades, spare parts, services, and new equipment.
